The Social Security disability application
The application stage of the Social Security disability benefits process is relatively straightforward.
You can begin by seeing a Social Security disability lawyer and having that person file your claim, or you can file your initial application yourself in one of three ways:
- By phone (1-800-772-1213).
- In person (at your local Social Security office).
- Online (http://www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordisability/adult.htm).
